Florida here we come!

We are starting our 1st family vacation on Thursday!! We are very excited but have lots of traveling ahead of us. Claire loves riding in her new van because she can look out the windows but gets bored and restless during long trips. We are leaving just after dinner on Thursday and making way to S. Carolina to visit family for a couple of nights and then off to Orlando with the Mayles and Jones. We all rented a house near Disney and can't wait!!! It will be Claire's first time in a pool. She already has 3 bathing suits and looks darling in them. BTW: if anyone has tips for traveling long distances with a 9 month-old please pass them along!

Two weekends ago I went to Chicago with some other hygienists for 2 nights. These were my first night away from Claire since being born and it was FINE! We all lived. Rich and Grandma Shari took great care of her. Shari came to watch Claire for the day Friday and stayed until Sunday. Claire loves it when she comes to visit (and so do we!). We all had a great time. Maybe soon Rich and I will BOTH be able to get away for a night. Trisha from highschool was able to join me for one night of great grub at a place called Bijan's. It was great getting with her. I'm trying to talk her into moving to Grand Rapids.......hmmmmmm.

Claire is standing all by herself and just cruising around furniture. I am not ready for her to walk but we can tell that is right around the corner. She is growing so fast. She is eating all different types of food now which is nice because it is helping Rich and I eat healthier, too. She insists on feeding herself and is using her sippy cup most meals. She is down to 3 bottles a day and hasn't had a pacifier in months. It is funny how we look back and laugh when we thought she would never be without her paci or being swaddled. We were such desperate new parents (and still are some days). We talk often of how fast she is growing. She is getting such a personality, too. She seems very inquizitive. She is getting into all of the drawers and really "inspects" things. She is giving kissing, clapping, and dancing (shrugging her shoulders and bobbing up and down). We've been fighting a terrible diaper rash and teething for the past 2 weeks. Teething is HORRIBLE!!!!

This past week was fun. The Moore's came over on Thursday night. Andrew is 10 months and her and Claire played great together! It is so fun watching our friend's children and Claire play together. He is getting so big and is quite a cutie. Friday was my day with Claire. She was in such a great mood and we played all day. Kendra came over during her lunch to hang out and it was great to see her. Friday night we went to Applebee's with the Mayle and Jones families and talked about our plans for vacation. Saturday we cleaned and my parents, Savannah and Jason came over for the night. It is so fun to see Claire with our families. She loves to play with Grandpa's beard and chase Aunt Savannah around the house. We all chilled last night and ate pizza and made a great breakfast this morning. Our neighbors came over to hang out just a little bit ago. Claire and Luke (1 year old) played while we watched "Dumb and Dumber". That movie is great. Luke is all ove rthe place and is just the happiest little thing. He is all smiles all of the time (and his parents aren't half bad, either).

So, here we are getting ready for a hectic week. All of the laundry is done, the house is clean, and we've started packing. This week is going to go by so fast.

RIch will post pictures soon!
